Enhancing economic growth in Orange County
The Orange County Business Incubation Network* (OCBIN) was created to enhance economic growth in Orange County, California.
The OCBIN mission is to facilitate incubation of promising Orange County start-up companies through: 1) targeted support of new incubators; 2) industry/university R&D collaborations and 3)
low-cost access to the professional services, funding, and physical resources these companies need to grow and to succeed.
OCBIN is led by the UC Irvine's Office of Technology Alliances (OTA) and The Don Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship drawing support from a
wide array of community resources including the Orange County Business Council, SoCal Edison, VCs, the Irvine Chamber of Commerce and major OC corporations such as Allergan and Edwards Life Sciences.
OCBIN currently supports the development of incubators in medical devices, IT, biotechnology and aerospace engineering and may expand into other fields if there is sufficient demand.
Oversight and community support for OCBIN is provided by a Task Force whose 20 members represent the breadth of OC’s economic development assets.
* OCBIN is not a legal entity or a joint venture of participants and is not intended to create rights in third parties. Association with or access to OCBIN is not intended to create legally binding obligations for any party.

Making the ConnectionsFor Start-Ups: You can submit a free and private company profile on the OCBIN-Connections section of the OCBIN website (www.ocbin.org). Once your profile has been screened and accepted by an OCBIN panel, you will be given a password that will provide access to the participating OCBIN service providers, investors and other business resources, all of whom have posted their most attractive terms targeted to start-ups.For Business Resource Providers: If your company provides a valuable business incubation service, resource or investment capital and you would like to establish a relationship with qualified new technology companies, you can apply to participate in OCBIN-Connections. This secure matchmaking service allows you to post the most favorable terms you can provide that will be attractive to start-ups (i.e. initial pro bono services, reduced fees, equity in lieu of cash, postponement of payments until funding is received etc.) and to initiate a success-based relationship. These special terms will only be visible to start-ups that have passed a screening process. To help support the cost of maintaining the system, we ask that you become a silver, gold or platinum OCBIN sponsor. For Corporate Partners: Established companies that want to track and perhaps access new business developments in their field can join the OCBIN Corporate Partners Program. This Program also affords the opportunity to have new technologies emanating from the Corporate Partner’s own R&D activities incubated, to the extent that outside incubation is preferred or could augment internal corporate development. Corporate Partners may participate in screening start-up company profiles, serve on start-up company boards and participate with start-ups in collaborative R&D projects involving extramural funding sources (i.e. SBIR, STTR & UC Discovery Grants) coordinated through the UC Irvine Office of Technology Alliances. |
